Highlights:
In the fall of 2014, ten girls, a mix of mostly church ball rivals from the community and two AAU players, were brought together to form the 2020 Lady Barons. Led by Coach Brandon Yung and Assistant Coach Kimi Nakamura, they played their pre-Baron years as the Sacramento Warriors in the 6th and 7th grade before their official debut as Barons in the fall of 2016. In the 2018-2019 season, Coach AJ Fajardo joined the team. The team’s win/loss record from both club and AAU tournaments from 2014-2019 is impressive at 134-23. But their fondest memories as a Baron is undoubtedly the fun times - Barons Camp, road trips in ‘Da Barons Bus’, Hawaii, Newport Beach, Santa Cruz, boba runs, and the 16-hour marathon days at Disneyland. The nine seniors who finished the final Barons season in 2020 were all original members of the team. The seven years together created an unbreakable bond, and the team chemistry made them tough competitors. Their love and respect for each other created a lifelong sisterhood, one, as they would say, with ‘nine bodies, one heart’.
